Over the many years researchers have been hard at work to find new ways to prevent strokes. This time the researchers may have found a gem, finding a link between strokes and sleep duration. Though this study is still in the works and there has not been a result locked in stone…we have a start. According to an article in MSNBC there maybe hope for those at risk for strokes.

Dr. Chen has done a 7 year study with more than 93,000 women between 50-79 years of age that shows an increase in stroke with women who sleep more than 7 hour durations. Dr. Chen found during the study that 1,166 woman with these sleeping patterns have had Ischemic strokes.
