Rainy Days and Mondays…Always give me Pain!

Hello Everyone!

For the last week it has been raining and it has made me think of those who are newly diagnosed! Think about what they are doing to lessen the pain. We all know that weather changes is a great big trigger for sufferers of Fibromyalgia!  Understanding what triggers are episodes is not always the issue, some become evident very quickly!

However learning how to deal can be quite a problem. For people who are just learning this can be very discouraging not to mention debilatating. So I have decided to give a few tips in hopes of helping those of you who are still learning.  As a sufferer myself and having to learn about Fibromyalgia all on my own I know how damaging this can be.

1. Keep Yourself Busy: I think that a good distraction can help ease the amount of pain I feel or go through. However it doesn’t always work for everyone!

2. Work your muscles: Moving them and keeping them from getting stiff is a good way to limit the amount of pain. Though they ache a lot, getting stiff will only increase the amount of pain you feel. If you know you need to sit for a long period of time, shake you arms periodicly, or just moving them around helps. Also get up and walk around for a minute or two even if it is just going to the bathroom and back this will help keep your legs from getting stiff and sore.

3. Meditation- Relaxation tips: Relaxation and meditation techniques have worked to help me block out some of the pain and regain control. Sometimes just listening to relaxation tapes or Cds help my muscles.

These are just a few things to get you started  it is up to you to find your own ways to cope with the pain. I try to avoid taking pain pills as a last resort after all this is a chronic and lifelong condition and covering up the pain with medication is not a good treatment for long-term!

Until next time!

Smiles,
