Learning to Cope With Pain: Relaxation

When you suffer from Fibromyalgia there are many days when it seems unbearable. Finding your quiet place is often difficult. So how do you cope when every inch of your body aches?

Sorry to say there is no cure all, however you can learn to cope with your pain. Finding a way to relax and take your mind off the pain is often easier said than done.  But looking for that one thing that makes life worth it can provide you with some comfort.

EFT for Pain:

Below are some simple yet relieving thing you can do to regain your comfort:

Listen to Relaxation tapes: As we all know the when we think of relaxation we don’t n to some relaxation tapes-think of someone talking  us through it. However there is something to be said for music. Finding a some good music and laying down for 30 minutes can rejuvenate your body and assist you in relaxation. You don’t have to be asleep to get rest.

Find natural remedies: for instance a cup of peppermint tea can work wonders for the body. Peppermint has some pain relieving properties and though it is not going to take your pain away with the first sip it can  help  you feel better.

Aroma Therapy: Use of aroma therapy to relieve pain has been working for decades. Using your sense of smell can reduce your pain and allow you to relax.

Fibromyalgia and Pain

We all know that with fibromyalgia there is going to be pain but no one truly knows how bad it is like others who have it. Fibromyalgia enhances every pain you feel no matter how small it may seem.

This morning I had and accident and feel landing on my ankle. With the average person a fall like that might hurt them severly, however due to my fibromyalgia the pain seems a hundred times greater! The doctor sent me home with some Tylenol and told me I had to stay off it for 3-6 weeks…when are we going to get a doctor that understands our condition like we do?

Maybe I can go to school and become one…..not practical…though it would be nice!

This is nothing compared to…giving birth with fibromyalgia! Thats a horse of a different color. Anyway I thought that a few tips to console the accident prone….sufferer would be nice.

Pain Management tips:

1. listen to soothing music…this helps a little when I need to take my mind off the pain!

2. Find an activity to draw your attention away from the pain…sometimes when we are in pain it helps to distract ourselves by doing the things we love.

3. rest…if you are inbetween doses of medication, trying to get some sleep might help for an hour or too…if you can’t sleep watching a good movie helps me.

4. laugh…laughing releases hormones in the blood that can give you a sensation of …being high on life!

Talking with others like you often gives us some bit of relief…my mother once told me…” No matter how bad you feel…remember there is always someone suffering more then you.” I first thought this was sad but now I understand the postitive in it….maybe you will too!

Remember to keep smiling…

Until next time!

Smiles,

Lisa
